Rep. Costa Statement on the Passing of Dolores Huerta, Labor Activist and Civil Rights Icon

October 28, 2026 Press Release FRESNO, Calif. - Congressman Jim Costa (CA-21) issued the following statement on the passing of Dolores Huerta, a labor activist and civil rights icon. "Dolores Huerta dedicated her life to the people who help feed our nation. When few others would, she stood with farmworkers in the San Joaquin Valley.  Because of her tireless advocacy, farmworkers secured better wages and safer working conditions, along with numerous protections they deserved. Her impact reached far beyond the fields as she continued fighting for civil rights and equality for every American. Dolores made a difference, not just in the lives of farmworkers, but in the history of our nation. She showed us what people can accomplish when they work together. The fight for fair treatment and dignity for every worker continues, and it is up to us to carry that work forward. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones." Issues : Agriculture
