Garbarino Joins Long Island Families and First Responders for Annual Back-to-School Event

August 31, 2026 Press Release BAY SHORE, NY — Last week, Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY-02) joined Long Island families, local law enforcement, first responders, and community organizations for the Fifth Annual Back-to-School Event in Bay Shore, helping local students get ready for the start of the new school year. More than 1,000 children and their families participated in this year’s event, where students received new backpacks, school supplies, and books, and families connected with local organizations and community resources. The event also gave children the opportunity to meet the law enforcement officers and first responders who serve their communities every day, including through Suffolk County Police K-9 demonstrations and Emergency Service Section displays. “There’s no better way to kick off the school year than bringing families together and making sure kids are ready for the first day,” said Congressman Garbarino . “I’m proud to support this event and grateful to our law enforcement officers, first responders, community organizations, and everyone who steps up each year to make it possible.
