Cassidy Delivers for Louisiana: Senator Releases LIST of 2025 Accomplishments

WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today released a list of top accomplishments in 2025 including the passage of theWorking Families Tax Cuts bill, eliminating taxes on tips, Social Security, and overtime pay. Additionally, Cassidy successfully secured over $669 million in retroactive payments to Louisianans as a result of hisSocial Security Fairness Actto repeal the Windfall Elimination Program (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) which was signed into law in 2025. In the fight against the fentanyl crisis, Cassidy passed into lawthe HALT Fentanyl Actto crackdown on fentanyl dealers, and theSUPPORT Actto boost treatment and recovery services. Cassidy secured over $1.6 billion from theInfrastructure Investment and Jobs Act(IIJA) for Louisiana roads, bridges, airports, and broadband expansion, and continued tocall for a long-term extensionof the National Flood Insurance Program. Cassidy also helped introduce and pass theLaken Riley Actto require the detention of illegal immigrants who commit theft or burglary.
“We had several major wins this year, including tax cuts for working families, cracking down on fentanyl dealers, and securing billions for Louisiana,”said Dr. Cassidy.“In 2026, I’ll keep working with my Republican colleagues to lower costs for families, make our communities safer, and secure American energy independence – starting right here in our state.”
As Chairman of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Cassidy, led 36 hearings to advance his and President Trump’s pro-patient, pro-family, pro-worker agenda. Under Cassidy’s leadership, the Committee voted to advance 32 of Trump’s nominees, all of whom have been confirmed by the Senate.
Cassidy led multiple efforts to fix America’s broken education system, including introducing bills to make education more accessible, effective, and affordable. The Chairman served a pivotal role in President Trump’s historic Working Families Tax Cuts, including Cassidy’sEducational Choice for Children Act, the first federal school choice legislation in American history, and addressing the root causes of the student debt crisis.
As the first physician to chair the HELP Committee, Cassidy spearheaded work to lower health care costs, including leading efforts to deliver President Trump’svisionto give power to the patients instead of giant insurance companies.
