For Immediate Release: Rep. Hunt Urges Houston Elected Leaders to Prepare for Mobilization Protests on Saturday, June 14th
June 10, 2025 Press Release Contact: Matthew Topolski, Communications Director Email: Matthew.Topolski@mail.house.gov Washington, D.C. - Congressman Wesley Hunt sent a letter to Judge Hidalgo, Mayor Whitmire of Houston, and Harris County Constables urging their quick preparation for the mobilization protests on Saturday, June 14th. "The top priority for elected officials is the protection and safety of Americans," said Rep. Hunt. " In light of the recent developments in Los Angeles, as anti-ICE riots rage on, it is our duty to ensure the safety of our cities and their civilians. On Saturday, June 14th, more than 1,800 rioters are being mobilized across the country, including in our city of Houston. These rioters are encouraging mass destruction—burning flags, destroying public property, and inciting violence against law enforcement and ICE agents. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated." In his letter, Rep. Hunt expressed his concern and extended the possibility of federal resources to the city of Houston, the Sheriff's office, and all Harris County's Constables so that these violent riots may be prevented and order restored.
