Rep. Boebert in the Hill: House Republicans Kept Their Promise, America’s Border is Secure Again

Lauren Boebert (R-CO) published an op-ed in The Hill detailing how President Trump and House Republicans have delivered on their promise to secure the southern border after four years of record illegal crossings, cartel activity, and fentanyl trafficking under the prior Democrat administration. In the piece, Rep. Boebert writes that daily southwest border encounters have fallen by roughly 95 percent, from more than 5,000 per day to about 250, with more than a year of zero criminal aliens released in the interior and the lowest fiscal year Border Patrol apprehension total since 1970.“The previous administration’s open border policies were a choice. That chaos ended when President Trump returned to office and Republicans in Congress kept the promise we made to the American people,” Rep. Boebert writes. She highlights her work to pass legislation and vote for the Laken Riley Act, the Secure America Act, and the Fentanyl is a WMD Act. She also points to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which for the first time appropriated serious funding toward barriers, technology, and enforcement. Rep Boebert writes "Securing the border does more than keep Americans safer. It also slashes the fraud and waste that exploded when millions of illegal immigrants were funneled into public systems. When the border is closed and interior enforcement is real, taxpayer dollars stop being siphoned off by illegal claims, emergency costs and benefit abuse.
