Rep. Sewell Marks 25 Years Since the September 11 Terrorist Attacks

Washington D.C. — Today, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) released the following statement marking 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001: “Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed by the horrific terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost that day and the thousands of first responders, rescue and recovery workers, and others who have lost their lives in the years since due to 9/11-related illnesses. We also remember their families and loved ones and honor the brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to save others. “In the face of unimaginable tragedy, Americans came together with courage, compassion, and a renewed sense of community. Twenty-five years later, we must never forget the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, or the spirit of unity that carried our nation through one of its darkest moments. “May we continue to honor their memory by supporting the heroes and survivors of 9/11, protecting our country, and upholding the ideals of liberty, justice, equality, and freedom that define who we are as Americans. We will never forget.” ###
