Chairwoman McClain Commends Harbor Beach High School Football Team on Historic State Championship Win
WASHINGTON— Today, House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) took to the House floor to congratulate a local high school, the Harbor Beach Pirates, on their football team winning the state championship. The Pirates secured their second state title in program history—and their first since 2012—with a 31-20 victory over the Hudson Tigers at Ford Field on November 28, 2025. Chairwoman McClain’s remarks as written for delivery are below: Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the Harbor Beach High School Football Team for winning the Michigan Division 8 State Championship last weekend. The Harbor Beach Pirates took home their second State Championship in football. Never trailing in the game, they won 31-20 at Ford Field in Detroit. And might I add, they had a perfect 14-0 season. So, congratulations to Coach Troy Schelke and this talented group of young men for their incredible accomplishment on the field. You have made Michigan’s 9th District proud, and I hope you cherish this memory and your hard work. Congratulations again, Harbor Beach High School, and Go Pirates! Thank you, I yield back.
