Klobuchar Introduces Amendment to Block Tax Cuts for Billionaires While Food Prices Continue to Rise
WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) today introduced a Senate budget resolution amendment that would block any tax cuts for billionaires while food prices keep rising.
“Instead of cutting costs, Republicans are cutting taxes for the wealthy. My amendment will ensure there are no tax cuts for billionaires unless food prices are lowered for regular Americans,”
said Klobuchar.
Text of the amendment: POINT OF ORDER.—It shall not be in order in the Senate to consider any bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, amendment between the Houses, or conference report that cuts taxes for taxpayers with an adjusted gross income greater than $1,000,000,000 if the most recent change in the Consumer Price Index shows an increase in food prices.
