Statement From Representative John W. Mannion on U.S. Military Action in Venezuela
January 3, 2026 Press Release SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement on U.S. military action in Venezuela: “I commend the men and women of the United States military for carrying out a brave, highly complex, and precision operation. What comes next is just as important as understanding how we got here. The American people deserve transparency, accountability, and a clear assessment of U.S. interests. With President Trump saying that the U.S. is going to “run” Venezuela, we also need a serious discussion about the post-Maduro path forward — for Venezuela, for the region, and for America’s long-term relationship with the Venezuelan people. Stability, democratic governance, and humanitarian considerations should guide what happens next. The United States has a checkered history with foreign interventions and regime change. I will work to ensure Congress fulfills its constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight openly and responsibly, on behalf of the American people. # # # Issues : Congress
