Ricketts, Coons LEAD Resolution in Support of Japan, Condemns Communist China’s Bullying
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, U.S. Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Chris Coons (D-DE), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations East Asia Subcommittee, introduced a resolution to reaffirm the Trump Administration’s unwavering support for the U.S.-Japan alliance. The resolution was introduced in response to Communist China’s political, economic, and military pressure on Japan. Senators Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) co-sponsored this resolution.
“The United States will always stand strong with Japan,”said Ricketts.“Since 1951, our alliance has served as the cornerstone of peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. Communist China’s efforts to intimidate Japan — including economic coercion and the suggestion of beheading Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi — are unacceptable. We condemn Communist China’s aggression. America is united behind our ally.”
