On This We Can Agree: Let’s Stop Wildfires

Your editorial “Trump and Bernie, Political Smokejumpers” (July 18) is right that our forests are “ill-managed.” Whether from the latest smoke drifting south from Canada or record-breaking fires here at home, the lesson is the same: We have neglected active forest management for far too long. Both parties share this blame. The result is denser forests, more fuel on the ground, and larger, hotter fires that threaten lives, communities and the air we all breathe.
