Sen. Moran Announces $2 Million Federal Investment for Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas in Pittsburg

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies – today announced a $2 million federal investment for the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas in Pittsburg through the new Quality Improvement Fund - Improving Access to Dental Services for Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (QIF-DNDD) program, which is administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). This federal investment will help to improve access to dental care for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities. “Access to quality health care services, including dental care, is essential to families in rural areas across Kansas,” said Sen. Moran . “Parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities face challenges in obtaining necessary dental care for their children. This investment in the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, Pittsburg, will help make certain that these families can receive the services they need within their own communities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that provides funding to HRSA to carry out programs like this, and as the co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Down Syndrome, I will continue to advocate for community health centers and work to provide them with the resources they need to deliver health care services to all Kansans.” Items to note: The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas in Pittsburg was one of only 28 recipients of the QIF-DNDD investment nationwide. # # #
