Congressman Cohen Announces Alcohol Research Grant to UTHSC

September 15, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a grant of $399,076 to study repurposing FDA-approved drugs to target chronic alcohol tolerance from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The project is under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Chang Hoon Jee. Congressman Cohen made the following statement: “Better understanding alcohol tolerance and treating those with this condition will improve lives often blighted by alcoholism.
