McCaul Meets with Grimes County Judge to Discuss Terafab Development and Economic Growth
October 23, 2026 Press Release NAVASOTA, Texas – This week, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Emeritus Michael McCaul (R-Texas) met with Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth III to discuss the development of SpaceX's Terafab semiconductor manufacturing facility, its potential to drive significant economic growth in the region, and opportunities for coordination among local, state, and federal officials. The proposed 100-million-square-foot facility — the biggest in the world — represents a major investment in American semiconductor manufacturing, with its first phase expected to bring more than $16 billion in investment and create approximately 3,000 jobs to Grimes County. "Terafab presents an extraordinary opportunity for Grimes County, the state of Texas, and our entire nation,” said Rep. McCaul. “This historic investment has the potential to create thousands of jobs, transform the local economy, and strengthen America's national security for years to come. I am extremely proud to see Central Texas leading the charge to onshore advanced semiconductor manufacturing, and I stand ready to support Judge Fauth and our local partners as we work to make this vision a reality."
