Whitehouse Sends Condolences to the Holy See on the Passing of Pope Francis

Providence, RI – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse today issued the following statement on the passing of Pope Francis: “The power of Pope Francis’ heroic example reached far beyond the Vatican.  I keep his second encyclical, Laudato Si’ , behind my desk.  It is a document for the ages, with words of care for the planet—our common home.  I join the Catholic Church and people of every faith in Rhode Island and all over the world in mourning a loss for all of us.”
