January 7, 2025 Press Release STATEMENT FROM REPRESENTATIVE JOHN W. MANNION (NY-22) ON JANUARY 6 TH AND CERTIFYING THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement: “Four years ago, there was a shameful and illegal assault on the peaceful transfer of power and our democratic ideals. I strongly commend the heroic actions of the Capitol Police, staff, and the elected leadership who ensured our traditions were honored and our laws were followed. I also honor those who lost their lives or were injured in the line of duty. Pardoning January 6th rioters is wrong. Political violence, fake elector schemes, intimidation, and threats to the Vice President mark a dark chapter in our history. The truth and facts of January 6th are well established, and this history mustn’t be warped by the powers of misinformation. Today, a joint session of Congress will uphold its constitutional duty to certify the results of a free and fair election.  I’m proud to take part in this process with the dignity and seriousness that the people of NY-22 deserve.” # # #
