Congressman Sam Liccardo Votes Against $1.15 Trillion for Trump’s Department of War
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027 (NDAA) which would give the Department of War $1.15 trillion in discretionary spending.
Congressman Sam Liccardo (CA-16) voted against NDAA and released the following statement:
“Handing Trump and Hegseth another $1.15 trillion for the bloated and rudderless Defense Department appears about as prudent as giving a bottle of scotch and the car keys to your 17-year-old.
“Prolonging this senseless, directionless war will serve only to further imperil our young soldiers, drain Americans’ wallets, and provide Donald Trump with 37 more opportunities to declare a ceasefire mirage in his endless pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize.”
