Hoeven: HUD Renews Continuum of Care Funding for YWCA in Fargo & Abused Adult Resource Center in Bismarck

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven announced the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Continuum of Care (CoC) program has awarded two North Dakota organizations over $450,000. The awards come as a result of legislation that Hoeven worked to pass as a member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Committee, with grants being renewed for:
YWCA Cass Clay – Transitional Housing – $225,284
YWCA Cass Clay – Supportive Housing Program (SHP) – $155,258
The Abused Adult Resource Center of Bismarck – Transitional Housing – $83,561
“These Continuum of Care grants are extremely import to combat homelessness, and we appreciate the organizations and leaders that provide those services,” said Hoeven. “That’s why we worked to pass legislation to ensure this funding will be in place for the current Fiscal Year, as we continue working to provide certainty for these providers in future years. We welcome HUD following through on our legislation for the Q1 grants, and we look forward to the additional renewals that will move forward in Q2.”
Hoeven has been working with YWCA Cass Clay CEO Erin Prochnow and others to renew the CoC grants for homelessness service providers in North Dakota. Hoeven
passed legislation directing HUD to renew CoC grants
, beginning with grants that expire in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026. Grants expiring in Q1 must be renewed no later than today, with those expiring in Q2 and Q3 to be reviewed starting April 1 and July 1, respectively.
Additional grants for Fraser, Ltd., the Grand Forks Housing Authority and the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center in Dickinson will begin the renewal process on April 1. In addition, Hoeven is working with HUD Secretary Scott Turner, who Hoeven hosted to review housing needs
in North Dakota
last year, as well as HUD Regional Director Tim Geitner and HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary for Special Needs Assistance Caitlyn McKenney to ensure the grants are renewed in future years to provide certainty to homelessness service providers across the state.
