Washington, DC — Today, Representative Jim Himes (CT-04) released the following statement: “I am deeply relieved to hear that a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Hamas. The war that began with the horrific massacre on October 7 th has devastated the region and led to the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. Today, we celebrate an end to the worst of this conflict, and the return of hostages to their families. I applaud President Biden and his Administration for their immense efforts to secure this agreement. “The path forward will not be an easy one. A lasting solution must include immediate humanitarian support for Gaza, security for our allies who continue to face threats at their borders, and a realistic path towards a two-state solution that allows for peace and stability for the Israeli and Palestinian people.”
