Correa Honors the Life and Legacy of Senator John Seymour

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) today introduced a bipartisan resolution honoring the late John Seymour, former U.S. Senator, California State Senator, and Mayor of Anaheim, who died April 18, 2026, at 88. "John Seymour spent his life serving California – as a Marine, a mayor, and a senator ," said Correa. "His legacy of principled leadership still inspires us today." A Marine veteran and UCLA graduate, Seymour built a career in Orange County real estate before entering public service – serving on the Anaheim City Council, as Mayor, in the state Senate, and finally in the U.S. Senate, where he was known as a pragmatic, bipartisan voice. He also led efforts to expand affordable housing across Southern California. This resolution is cosponsored by U.S. Representatives Zoe Lofgren (D-CA-18), Judy Chu (D-CA-28), Julia Brownley (D-CA-26), Jared Huffman (D-CA-2), Juan Vargas (D-CA-52), Mike Levin (D-CA-49), and Dave Min (D-CA-47).
