Contact: Alexis Torres Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Senate-passed continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded through December 11, 2026: “Congress has an obligation to keep our government funded and ensure Americans can access the critical support they need to get ahead in life. Today’s continuing resolution will assure essential federal programs and services remain open and accessible to South Texans, including for our veterans, senior citizens, and the many working families who continue to struggle to afford rent and healthcare and put food on the table. For our military, this extension also allows us to maintain military readiness and deliver on-time paychecks to American troops as they honorably serve our nation at home and abroad. “Notably, this bill delays the Administration’s proposed rule to disrupt the flow of federal funding to our local communities, small businesses, colleges and universities, hospitals, health clinics and more. “The end of the fiscal year is quickly approaching, and we cannot continue to fund our government with short-term solutions. I urge Speaker Mike Johnson and Republican leadership to stop wasting time and work in a bipartisan fashion to negotiate full-year funding bills that will lower costs and rein in the corruption of this Administration.” Issues :
