Aderholt Votes to Condemn Socialism and the Democratic Socialists of America

Image September 1, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) today voted in favor of a House resolution condemning socialism in all its forms and denouncing the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America and their radical agenda. “Socialism does not have a good track record, and history has shown us the consequences when government is given control over the economy and the lives of its citizens,” said Congressman Aderholt. “Under Marxist ideology, everyone shares the poverty. Under capitalism, everyone has the opportunity to share the wealth. “When I was growing up, opposition to communism and Marxism was not a Republican or Democrat issue. Americans understood that these ideologies were fundamentally incompatible with individual liberty, private property and free enterprise. Unfortunately, some of those lessons appear to be fading from our national memory. “The Democratic Socialists of America are no longer simply advocating for a larger government. Their agenda calls for fundamental changes to our constitutional system and greater government control over major sectors of the American economy. These are ideas that Americans should take seriously and reject. “America does not need socialism to address the challenges facing working families. We need policies that give Americans greater opportunity to work, invest, build businesses and succeed. Our free-enterprise system is not perfect, but people throughout history have risked everything to escape socialism for the freedom and opportunity America provides. “I was proud to vote today to condemn socialism and to reaffirm that America's future must remain rooted in individual liberty, constitutional government, and free enterprise.” H. Res. 1490 condemns and denounces socialism in all its forms, including the Democratic Socialists of America, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States.
