Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) released the following statement after voting against the Continuing Resolution to fund the Trump administration’s war and inhumane deportation agenda: “I refuse to give another dime toward Trump’s reckless war and racist mass deportations. While this wannabe dictator claims there’s no money for healthcare, food assistance, or Social Security, he has no issue funding endless wars, genocide and DHS’s violent deportation machine. Our residents are burdened by skyrocketing gas prices and terrorized by ICE agents, but Congress keeps pushing more money to our already over-inflated defense and DHS budgets. Congress and this administration’s priorities are severely out of touch.” The Continuing Resolution includes $839.2 billion for the Department of Defense, $8.4 billion more than the DOD requested. The recently passed funding bill also gives another $11 billion to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for marine vessels, drones, and vehicles for law enforcement. Share on
