Husted in Columbus at Energy Affordability Summit

“If we want to make things more affordable for Americans, we must make energy more affordable.” COLUMBUS – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today delivered remarks at the Energy Affordability Summit in Columbus, highlighting Ohio’s role as a leading energy-producing and manufacturing state and welcoming energy leaders from across the country to the summit. Husted introduced U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Arnold Ventures Co-Founder and Co-Chair John Arnold for the summit’s discussion. “Ohio is a top 10 energy state. We have nuclear, solar, wind, oil, gas and coal. If we want to make things more affordable for Americans, we must make energy more affordable. That means ensuring we have reliable, abundant energy and fixing the policies that stand in the way of producing it. Ohio has the resources to help power America, and we need to put them to work. It was great to join leaders from across the country today who are focused on making energy more affordable for Americans,” said Husted. The Energy Affordability Summit brings together state and federal elected officials, energy experts, and business and labor leaders from Ohio and across the country to outline a path toward greater American energy affordability and highlight the urgent need for permitting reform. Husted is championing several efforts in the Senate to lower energy costs for Americans: Ratepayer Protection Act: This bill would ensure American families and small businesses aren’t left paying for the energy infrastructure needed to support new data centers. American Energy and Mineral Infrastructure Act: This bill would reform federal permitting and accelerate construction of critical energy and mineral infrastructure. New Source Review Permitting Act: This bill would clarify the Environmental Protection Agency’s interpretation of New Source Review requirements under the Clean Air Act, making it easier for manufacturers and energy producers to complete pollution control projects, improve energy efficiency and make necessary equipment reliability and safety upgrades.
