Senator Moody met with the group at the Lincoln Memorial, thanking the men and women for their service to our country. “Florida is home to some of the bravest men and women who answered the call to serve our nation. We will ensure their service will never be forgotten. I am grateful to welcome these heroes to Washington and to personally thank them for all they have done for our country,” said Senator Ashley Moody. BACKGROUND: Florida is home to more than 1.4 million veterans, one of the largest populations in the nation. Senator Moody is committed to fighting for U.S. military members and veterans. When Senator Moody served as Florida’s Attorney General, she oversaw the Florida Military and Veterans Assistance Program to assist service members and their families who have been affected by scams. Earlier this year, the Florida Veterans Foundation awarded Villages Honor Flight a $15,000 grant as part of its support for 10 Honor Flight hubs across Florida. Honor Flights are special trips planned for veterans of America’s wars to travel to Washington, D.C. from across the country to visit the monuments of the respective wars they fought in and honor the service and sacrifice of the veterans and their loved ones. Senator Moody is a proud supporter of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans, and military families. Since becoming a United States Senator, Moody has: Recently cosponsored the Veterans Bill of Rights Act . The Veterans Bill of Rights Act would require the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs to ensure veterans are clearly informed of their existing rights regarding VA-administered health care, benefits, and services. Cosponsored the Major Richard Star Act, which seeks to fix unjust disability policies for retired combat veterans; Supported the Veterans Education and Technical Skills (VETS) Opportunity Act , which would expand educational benefits for veterans; Supported the Restore VA Accountability Act of 2025 , which would help ensure that only the most dedicated individuals can serve veterans; Held a town hall with VA Secretary Collins in Tampa to discuss issues facing veterans; Recognized 200 years of U.S. Navy presence in Pensacola and discussed the critical importance of the Navy and Coast Guard’s presence in the Florida Panhandle ; and more. Senator Moody recently joined the Senate Armed Services Committee .
