Grassley Welcomes Over $1 Million in Federal Funding to Support Hazard Mitigation and Energy Projects in Iowa Communities
BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA – U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) welcomed news from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that Iowa will receive over $1 million in federal funding to benefit infrastructure projects across the state. Funding comes from the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities ( BRIC ) program, which supports pre-disaster hazard mitigation projects that strengthen infrastructure, reduce risks from natural hazards and build long-term resilience. “I’m glad to see the Trump administration continue to prioritize the health and safety of Iowans by distributing this federal funding,” Grassley said. “The state and these communities will put the money to good use strengthening infrastructure for the future. In Washington, I’ll keep fighting to ensure our state gets the resources we need to continue to build and prosper.” The FEMA awards are: Statewide Electric Resilience Strategy: $373,297.12 to fund advance assistance, education and outreach as part of a BRIC Fiscal Year 2023 Notice of Funding Opportunity project. Cedar Rapids Downtown Generator Project: $370,755 to fund generators and emergency power as part of a BRIC Fiscal Year 2023 Notice of Funding Opportunity project. You can find more details HERE. Panora Utility Resiliency Project: $277,709 to fund utility protective measures as part of a BRIC Fiscal Year 2023 Notice of Funding Opportunity project. -30-
