McConnell Statement on Third Anniversary of October 7th Attacks
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), issued the following statement on the third anniversary of the October 7 th attacks: “Three years on from October 7th, 2023, it is important to distinguish what that day was, and what it was not. “The deadliest attempted genocide of Jews since the Holocaust was not merely a new chapter in some intractable ethnic squabble. “The invasion of peaceful homes to slaughter infants, rape women, and bludgeon elders was not the desperate act of noble freedom fighters. “The hiding of hostages for over two years in dark tunnels, built for terror, was not the behavior of legitimate belligerents seeking peace. “On this solemn anniversary, it is more important than ever for America and her allies to maintain clear eyes about the true impediments to lasting security for Israel and its neighbors: the web of terror that links Hamas, Hizballah, and fellow proxies with Iran, the architect of regional chaos. “What more urgent call to remember and condemn the horrific violence of October 7th, 2023, than the emboldened anti-Semitism to which it has given license here at home? Jewish Americans, for their part, will remember which leaders made excuses for the deranged crowds chanting in the streets for the eradication of the world’s only Jewish state, and which ones declined to condemn the cowardly reprobates cashing in on anti-Semitism online. “I refuse to be one of them. I refuse to treat October 7th as anything but what it is: a sickening reminder of the oldest hatred the world has ever known, the responsibility to confront it, and the importance of a resilient Jewish state in a world bent on its destruction.” ###
