Rep. Ansari Celebrates Her Bipartisan Billion Dollar Boondoggle Act Becoming Law

The legislation marks Ansari’s first bill passed into law WASHINGTON – Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) celebrated the recent signing into law of her bipartisan Billion Dollar Boondoggle Act, legislation to increase transparency and accountability for taxpayer-funded federal projects that are significantly over budget or behind schedule. President Donald Trump signed the bill into law following its passage in both chambers of Congress. “The American people deserve transparency and accountability for how their tax dollars are spent, especially as families struggle with the rising costs of everyday essentials,” said Rep. Ansari. “While the level of corruption across the federal government right now is stunning and unprecedented, this is a truly longstanding, bipartisan issue. Taxpayers deserve this transparency. And now they’ll have a great deal more.” Text of Rep. Ansari’s Billion Dollar Boondoggle Act HERE . The Billion Dollar Boondoggle Act requires the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to compile and submit an annual report to Congress identifying qualifying taxpayer-funded projects and detailing changes to their scope, estimated costs, and projected completion dates. The reporting requirement will give the public greater insight into federal projects experiencing significant delays or cost overruns. The House of Representatives originally passed the legislation in July 2026. The Senate approved the bill in September, sending it to the President for his signature and final enactment into law.
