Congresswoman Nikema Williams Votes NO on the Billionaire Bailout Budget

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement:

“I voted no on the Billionaire Bailout Budget Bill that Republicans brought to the floor in the middle of the night. What’s done in the dark comes to the light, and I’m here to shed light. While the American people slept, Republicans voted to take health care away from 14 million people with Medicaid cuts. They voted to slash SNAP benefits— taking food away from hungry children, seniors, and veterans. Republicans turned their backs on the American people—all for the sake of giving tax cuts to billionaires.

In the dark of night and all day every day, I stand with the children, seniors, and working families in the Fighting Fifth and across the country. They are more than line items in a budget. They are real people trying to survive.”
