Congressman Carlos Gimenez Joins Speaker Johnson, House Leadership on DAY 37 of the Democrat Shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (R-FL) joined Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, House GOP Leadership, and members of the Republican Governance Group (RG2) on day 37 of the Democrat-led government shutdown. As Vice-Chair of RG2, Congressman Gimenez spoke alongside Speaker Johnson to address the implications of the ongoing shutdown and the need for responsible governance. “We are now on day 37 of Democrats holding the federal government hostage. History shows that when Congress works together, we can find solutions without inflicting pain on the American people,” said Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez . “I urge Senate Democrats to reopen the government, end the suffering, and join House Republicans in crafting meaningful, bipartisan policies to lower healthcare costs and strengthen our economy. He is the only Cuban-born Member of the 119th Congress, having fled his homeland shortly after the Communist takeover of the island. He is the first career firefighter-paramedic elected to the House of Representatives and served as the former Fire Chief of the City of Miami and Mayor of Miami-Dade County. Rep. Gimenez serves as the Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, the Armed Services Committee, and the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.
