This Week in New Mexico: Luján Holds Events Celebrating Investments in Medical Research and Discussing Affordability

New Mexico– This week, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) held a series of events in Los Lunas, Albuquerque, and Española where he met with local leaders, highlighted federal funding he secured for medical research, and discussed the affordability crisis that is impacting New Mexicans.
On Monday, Senator Luján met with leaders from the Village of Los Lunas to discuss priorities for the local community and vital infrastructure projects. On Tuesday, Senator Luján attended a ribbon cutting where he highlighted federal funding he secured for a state-of-the-art MRI scanner for medical research at the University of New Mexico. Additionally, Senator Luján held two roundtable discussions in Albuquerque and Española where he convened leaders to discuss concerns and challenges regarding affordability and the increasing costs impacting businesses, education, and household expenses for New Mexicans.
“This week, I had the privilege of meeting with New Mexicans and discussing their priorities and the challenges they are facing,”said Senator Luján. “At UNM, I was honored to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new state-of-the-art MRI machine I fought to secure federal funding for that will drive research and innovation. I was also grateful to convene various leaders from a wide range of fields to discuss how increasing costs are impacting New Mexicans across the state. Based on the discussions, it’s clear that President Trump’s policies are bad for New Mexico and driving up costs at every turn. Hearing from my constituents is what drives my work in Washington, and I look forward to continuing to fight for all New Mexicans.”
