Moolenaar Introduces Legislation to Stop Illegal Immigrants from Receiving Social Security Benefits

February 10, 2025 Press Release Today, Congressman John Moolenaar introduced the No Social Security for Illegal Aliens Act of 2025. The legislation prohibits individuals from collecting Social Security benefits on income made while illegally present in the United States. “Michigan seniors have worked hard to pay into Social Security, and people who are in our country illegally should not receive those benefits. My legislation is common sense and will advance President Trump’s goal of ensuring those who are here illegally do not collect Social Security,” said Moolenaar. In a press conference last week, President Donald Trump proposed this policy saying, "We have illegal immigrants on Social Security and we're going to find out who they are and take them off... we're not going to stand for that."
