Hoeven: President Trump Announces $12 Billion Farmer Bridge Assistance for Producers

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, today joined an agriculture roundtable at the White House with President Donald Trump and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to announce $12 billion in assistance to help the nation’s agriculture producers. The Farmer Bridge Assistance program will be administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) with assistance expected to be distributed by the end of February 2026.
“Between China targeting our producers, rising input costs and other challenges, our producers are really going through a tough stretch. That’s why we’ve been working with the Trump administration to advance agriculture assistance to serve as a bridge to the improvements we made to crop insurance, ARC and PLC in the One Big Beautiful Bill,” said Hoeven. “This assistance will not only help our producers in the short-term but will ensure they aren’t used as leverage as the administration continues to negotiate for more markets and better long-term trade agreements. We appreciate President Trump, Secretary Rollins and Secretary Bessent for their work on this and will continue working to help our producers through this tough stretch.”
During President Trump’s first term, Hoeven worked with the administration to put in place similar agriculture assistance when U.S. producers were targeted during trade negotiations. Today’s announcement builds on that program and is part of a number of initiatives Hoeven has been working on to help North Dakota and the nation’s agriculture producers.
