Senator Hoeven Statement on Two-Week Ceasefire With Iran

BISMARCK, N.D. – Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after the U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire:
“We appreciate that President Trump and his negotiating team have secured this temporary ceasefire with the Iranian regime. This is an important step toward ending the conflict, but we need to remain vigilant. Our objectives are to eliminate Iran’s nuclear weapons program and its ability to threaten our interests and attack our allies. We must maintain pressure on Iran to follow through on its commitment to re-open the Strait of Hormuz and agree to a deal that achieves our objectives. America is committed to peace through strength.”
