Sen. Ossoff, Colleagues Demand Answers on PFAS Clean-Up Delays Near Defense Bases
Washington, D.C.— U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is demanding answers after the Trump Administration delayed PFAS clean-up plans around Georgia military bases.
Sen. Ossoffjoined a group of Senatorspushing back on the Department of Defense (DoD)’s decision to delay the clean-up of PFAS contamination that is impacting military bases in Georgia and across the nation.
According to the DoD data,PFAS clean-up plans will be delayed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Moody Air Force Base, Robins Air Force Base, and Savannah International Airport, which hosts the Georgia Air National Guard.
Exposure to PFAS chemicals, found in consumer products and commercial applications, has beenlinkedto cancer, thyroid disease, weakened childhood immunity, and many other health problems, and contamination iscommonon and near many U.S. military bases.
“For years, communities contaminated by PFAS from nearby DoD installations in our states have waited for the DoD to take action,”Sen. Ossoff and the group wrote.“We request that the Department reverse its decision, return to the previous timetable released in December 2024, and accelerate efforts to remediate confirmed PFAS contamination.”

Sen. Ossoff continues working to protect Georgians from harmful chemicals.
Last year, Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnockdelivered$2.5 million through the bipartisan infrastructure law to help expedite the cleanup of hazardous materials in Macon, Milledgeville, and Warner Robins.
In 2022, during a U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing, Sen. Ossoffsecureda commitment from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to work with him to determine if PFAS contamination is affecting Georgians living in the vicinity of Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta.
In 2021, Sen. Ossoff demanded action from the Department of Defense to clean up PFAS contamination threatening the health of Georgia military families atRobins Air Force Base,Dobbins Air Reserve Base,Moody Air Force BaseandSavannah Air National Guard Base.
