Sen. Moran Statement on Retirement of Cindy McCain as World Food Programme Executive Director
WASHINGTON
– U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) released the following statement after the announcement that Cindy McCain will be stepping down from her role as Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP):
“Over the past three years leading the World Food Programme, Ambassador Cindy McCain has been a champion in the fight against global hunger. Under her guidance, WFP has saved lives, provided food security for millions of hungry individuals around the world and helped support the stability of nations in need. As co-chair of the Senate Hunger Caucus, I had the opportunity to work closely with her on initiatives to feed the hungry, and I saw firsthand how her compassion and service touched many lives. I want to thank Ambassador McCain for her service, and I am praying for her full recovery.”
