Senator Gallego Statement on EPA Announcement to Lower Gas Prices

WASHINGTON –Today, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldinannouncedthe department would issue a temporary emergency fuel waiver to allow nationwide sales of E15 and remove all federal impediments to selling E10. This comes afterSenator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ)called onthe Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy to take proactive steps to protect Arizona consumers amid rising gas prices.
“Costs are already too high, and the last thing Arizonans need is more pain at the pump. Ten days ago, I pushed the administration to take immediate action to address rising gas prices across our state and urged the EPA to temporarily waive the summer-blend fuel requirements to help bring prices down faster,”said Senator Gallego.“They listened, and today the EPA and Department of Energy issued a temporary fuel waiver that will help lower gas prices and bring some relief to Arizona families. This is exactly the kind of immediate action we should be taking to help working families and businesses.”
The administration’s decision will work to alleviate gas prices by temporarily waiving summer-blend fuel requirements, a move that will directly lower what Arizonans pay at the pump by expanding the pool of available fuel to local retailers.
