Congressman Rogers Applauds House Passage of Federal Funding for Military Construction and Veterans Affairs
First of 12 Federal Funding Bills for 2027 WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) announced House passage of the first of 12 federal funding bills for fiscal year 2027 on Friday, providing $157 billion for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies. The bill includes more funding to support President Trump’s America First agenda with critical investments for veterans’ care, military readiness and modernization. “Supporting our American heroes – both our veterans and active servicemembers – remains at the top of our priority list on Capitol Hill,” said Congressman Rogers, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee . “We are increasing funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs by nearly $84 billion more in 2027 to improve VA medical facilities, services and research to ensure our veterans receive the benefits they deserve. For our veterans in rural areas, it ensures they have transportation for medical care as well.” The Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act (H.R. 8469) fully funds veterans’ health care programs, benefits, mental health services and critical VA programs, including the Toxic Exposures Fund, Opioid Addiction Treatment and Veterans Electronic Health Records. It also blocks the VA from purchasing resources from Communist China. The legislation provides robust funding for military construction projects, supports American strength in the Indo-Pacific region and invests in advanced weapons systems. “We’re investing in elite facilities to maintain American military superiority, addressing aging military bases and outdated infrastructure,” said Congressman Rogers . “Supporting the military means providing military families with better housing, childcare and safer facilities for those who carry the burden of service.” The federal funding bill passed the House and now moves to the Senate for consideration.
