Grassley Thanks Law Enforcement During National Police Week, Leads Resolution Reiterating Senate’s Unwavering Support

WASHINGTON – Amid National Police Week, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) thanked America’s law enforcement officers for their selfless service and highlighted his ongoing work to back the blue. This week, Grassley and Ranking Member Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing May 11th through May 15th as National Police Week. Additionally, Grassley is working to shepherd several bipartisan law enforcement bills through the Judiciary Committee. The bills scheduled for a committee vote tomorrow include legislation to improve mental health resources for officers , assist law enforcement in solving cold cases and speed up critical benefits for first responders , among others. Remarks by Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa Chairman, Senate Judiciary Committee “National Police Week” Wednesday, May 13, 2026 Since 1962, Americans have recognized the second week of May as National Police Week. This is a week of reflection, gratitude and tribute to our nation’s brave men and women in blue. I’m leading the United States Senate in celebrating this annual tradition by introducing a resolution to honor law enforcement during National Police Week. So, as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I’m also helping steer several bipartisan, pro-police bills out of committee .
