Strickland Rejects Defense Bill Laced with Voter Suppression

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) released the following statement on her vote against H.R. 8800 National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027 (NDAA), off the House floor: “Speaker Johnson and extreme, right-wing House Republicans have hijacked the NDAA process – again. While this bill includes bipartisan provisions that would benefit our servicemembers and strengthen our national defense, I will not support a bill that makes it harder for U.S. citizens to exercise their constitutionally protected right to vote.” Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
