May 18, 2026 Press Release Washington, D.C. – In a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins, Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) urged the Secretary to issue a Secretarial Disaster Declaration for Pennsylvania fruit growers impacted by unprecedented low temperatures in April. “Pennsylvania agriculture is a central component of our rural communities, and fruit growers are now facing devastating losses caused by abnormally low temperatures during a critical point in the growing season,” said Congressman Joyce. “This freeze has placed an extraordinary financial burden on orchards across our district and threatens the livelihoods of countless farming families.
