UPDATE: SBA Opens Business Recovery Center in Tusayan Following Grand Canyon Flash Floods

Last week, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the availability of low-interest federal disaster loans for small businesses and private nonprofit organizations experiencing economic losses from the recent flash flooding at Grand Canyon National Park. Since then, the SBA has opened a Business Recovery Center at Tusayan Town Hall ( 845 Mustang Drive, Tusayan, AZ 86023 ). Representatives are on hand to answer questions and walk applicants through the loan process weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST until the center closes on Friday, October 30 . Walk-ins are welcome, and in-person appointments can be scheduled by clicking here . The disaster declaration , issued on October 13, covers Coconino, Gila, Mohave, Navajo, and Yavapai Counties in Arizona, as well as Kane and San Juan Counties in Utah. As a result, the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is now open to eligible small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and private nonprofit organizations with financial losses directly tied to the flooding. These loans help cover working capital needs and operating expenses that could have been met had the disaster not occurred. Importantly, applicants may qualify even if their business or nonprofit did not sustain physical damage. For additional information or to begin an application, please click here , call the SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955, or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability may dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services. The deadline to submit economic injury applications is July 13, 2027 . “I’m grateful to the U.S. Small Business Administration for putting personnel on the ground to assist small business owners. I encourage Arizonans impacted by this catastrophic disaster to meet with SBA representatives and explore their options,” said Rep. Crane . “The flash floods are the latest setback in a challenging stretch for Grand Canyon National Park and gateway communities. My team and I remain committed to doing our part, and I’m hopeful these resources and recent movement on the North Rim Restoration Act of 2025 will deliver lasting results for Northern Arizona.”
