October 21, 2026 Press Release SKOKIE — Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) issued the following statement after her Skokie office received a second suspicious letter in less than a week: “Today, my Skokie office received another suspicious letter. When my staff noticed something unusual about the envelope, they once again immediately alerted authorities out of an abundance of caution. “We worked with the Skokie Police Department and U.S. Capitol Police to respond to the situation. FBI and hazardous materials personnel also responded to the scene. All staff are safe and accounted for, and authorities have since given the all clear for our office. The contents of the letter are being further investigated. “My team and I will not be deterred. We will keep showing up, doing our jobs, and fighting for the people of Illinois’ 9th Congressional District. Nothing changes that commitment.” ###
