Image July 29, 2026 Press Release Barrett Highlights His Work on Health Care Affordability, Infrastructure Investment, and Tax Relief Lansing, Mich. — This week, Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) visited University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Hospital in Lansing and a road construction site in Williamston. During the visits, Barrett met with health care professionals and the road crew and discussed his work to lower health care costs, invest in mid-Michigan infrastructure, and deliver tax relief to hardworking Michiganders. “Whether treating patients or paving our roads, Michigan’s health care professionals and skilled workers keep our communities running every day,” said Barrett. “That’s why I was proud to deliver no tax on overtime for construction workers, and it’s why I’m proud to advocate for policies that will make health care more affordable, invest in our infrastructure, and more. It was valuable to hear directly from those on the front lines about the challenges they face and what issues matter most to them. I’m committed to fighting to strengthen our workforce and put more money back into the pockets of working families.” Image During his Monday visit to UM Health-Sparrow, Barrett toured the facility and met with hospital leadership and staff to discuss the importance of ensuring Michigan families have access to high-quality health care and supporting the professionals who provide it. Barrett has made Michiganders’ health a top priority and the focus of two pillars of his Blueprint for a Better America : Making Health Care Affordable Again and Making America Healthy Again .
