Ernst Joins Trump to Celebrate Ag, Announce Historic Biofuel Blending Levels

EPA sets renewable fuel volume requirements for 2026 and 2027 at historically high levels, providing certainty for farmers.
WASHINGTON — To cap off celebratingNational Ag WeekandIowa Ag Week, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) joined President Trump at the White House to honor American farmers, ranchers, and producers for their work to feed and fuel the world.
As nearly 1,000 farmers gathered on the South Lawn, the president highlighted how Republicans have consistently delivered for farmers and strengthened rural economies under his leadership. He also announced the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized its 2026-27 biofuel blending requirements at the highest level in history and urged Congress to deliver legislation securing year-round E15 and a long overdue five-year Farm Bill.

“I can think of no better way to wrap up two weeks of honoring Iowa farmers than by elevating their voices and values to the highest levels,”said Senator Ernst.“Today’s announcement underscores the Trump administration’s commitment to upholding the vital role homegrown biofuels and Iowa agriculture play in lowering fuel prices and bolstering our nation’s energy independence. After years of work to support our farmers and producers, I’m thrilled to have helped deliver the highest levels of biofuel blends for our nation’s fuel supply and strengthen the integrity of the RFS to create an even more prosperous rural America. My work doesn’t stop here, and I’ll continue to press for a modernized five-year Farm Bill and ensure Congress sends a bill to the president’s desk that secures permanent, year-round E15.”
Background:
After years of work, in April, Ernsturgedthe EPA to restore integrity, stability, and growth to the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) by raising Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) levels for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels. Following the EPA’s June announcement for getting the RFS back on track, Ernstpraisedthe Trump administration for proposing record biofuel volumes, adding domestic feedstock protections, and reversing the Biden-era electric vehicle (EV) mandate whileurging the White Houseto continue putting America’s farmers and rural communities first.
She also helped introduce theFarmer First Fuel Incentives Act,which she successfully included in theOne Big Beautiful Billto extend the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit and ensure domestic feedstocks are prioritized for biofuel production – opening new markets for farmers.
More broadly, Ernst has been a leadingadvocatefor homegrown Iowa biofuels, securing access to E15 for the summer driving months andpushingfor permanent, nationwide availability that would give consumers, farmers, and biofuel producers the certainty they deserve.
