Hoeven: DOJ Awards $555,000 to Community Violence Intervention Center in Grand Forks

WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) has awarded $555,000 to the Community Violence Intervention Center (CVIC) in Grand Forks through the Fiscal Year 2025 Training and Services to End Violence and Abuse Against Individuals with Disabilities and Deaf People Program. The funding will support physical accessibility improvements, advocacy and intervention services, the development of accessible outreach materials, and outreach office hours and cross-trainings with community partners to better serve individuals with disabilities and deaf victims of violence. “CVIC provides critical services for victims of violence across northeast North Dakota,” said Hoeven. “This funding will strengthen the organization’s ability to serve individuals with disabilities and deaf victims by improving accessibility, expanding outreach and ensuring they receive the support and services they need.” The award follows Hoeven’s efforts to resolve DOJ funding delays affecting CVIC’s ability to provide these important victim services and violence prevention programming. Earlier this year , Hoeven worked with DOJ leadership to secure commitments for more than $1.8 million in federal funding for the organization, including this $555,000 grant, a $725,000 Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention grant and a $500,000 OVW Consolidated Youth Program grant. -###-
