Senator Hassan Statement on Anniversary of October 7 Attack

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement to mark the anniversary of Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7:
“Two years ago today, Hamas terrorists launched a horrific attack on Israel. In a barbaric rampage, Hamas terrorists took hostages, employed sexual violence as a weapon of war, and slaughtered entire families, some 1,200 people, including many Americans. It is a day that lives in infamy, and we cannot forget those who were lost.
“Since the October 7 attack, we have witnessed a disturbing rise in antisemitism, extremism, and violence. On this anniversary, we must recommit ourselves to calling out and rejecting this hate, no matter what fringe it comes from.
“Looking ahead, it is absolutely essential that we work to build a better future in the Middle East. It’s critical that we do everything that we can to bring the hostages home, provide vital humanitarian relief to Gaza, end this war, and ensure that Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in security and peace.”
