The bill would block President Trump’s unconstitutional executive order that gives the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sweeping authority to decide which voters may cast ballots by mail, endangering the ability of thousands of eligible voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote. “The right to vote is the bedrock of our democracy, which is why we need to stand up to protect this fundamental right in light of threats to restrict access to the ballot. Hundreds of thousands of Nevadans rely on vote-by-mail to cast their vote and make their voices heard in federal and state elections,” said Senator Rosen. “That’s why my colleagues and I are introducing legislation to fight back against Trump’s executive order limiting access to mail-in voting, which imposes unnecessary barriers on an individual’s constitutional right to participate in our democracy.” Senator Rosen has been fighting to protect American’s right to vote, while also protecting the integrity of the USPS. She has spoken out against the SAVE America Act , which would impose strict restrictions on voting and voter registration. Senator Rosen also pushed back against Trump’s plan to privatize USPS, emphasizing the risks of politicization and the endangerment of vote-by-mail efforts.
