Larson Statement on Political Violence in Minnesota

Larson (CT-01) released the following statement in response to the assassination of State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and attempted assassination of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. “I am horrified to learn of the assassination of State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, and I’m praying for the quick recovery of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife,” said Larson . “I am now learning that my Democratic colleagues in Congress from Minnesota were also potential targets of violence. I thank the United States Capitol Police and law enforcement in Minnesota for responding swiftly. Political violence has no place in our nation, and I stand with Governor Tim Walz, Members of the Minnesota Congressional delegation, and all family, friends, and constituents harmed by this horrible tragedy.”
