MENG Statement on Terrorist Attack Against Greek Orthodox Church in Syria

Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs and a member of the Congressional Hellenic Caucus, today issued the following statement on the deadly terrorist attack at a Greek Orthodox Church in Syria. “I am devastated to learn about the deadly terrorist attack during a peaceful Greek Orthodox service in Syria. No one should fear for their life while worshiping, regardless of their faith. As Syria charts a new course, the United States must continue to stress the importance of protecting religious and ethnic minorities and support efforts to build a more inclusive Syria. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones, and the Greek Orthodox community. I am continuing to pray for peace in the region. New York’s Greek community – including Greek Americans in Queens – has always been a pillar of strength and solidarity when tragedies impact their families, friends, and neighbors. I know they will rally around the Greek Orthodox community as it mourns and recovers from this attack.”
